Benefits of Skin Rejuvenation for Men
Skin rejuvenation procedures are generally thought of as being strictly for women, but men can benefit from them as well. Men are more likely to work outdoors than are women, and they are therefore more likely to develop conditions caused by sun damage.
Men also shave their faces every day, and the resulting ingrown hairs and irritations do not do their skin any favors. Consequently, there are actually procedures that may benefit men more than women.
There are a few methods for exfoliating the skin. No matter the method, it involves removing the topmost layer of the skin in order to smooth wrinkles or help reduce the size of facial pores.
Removing the topmost layer of the skin stimulates the body to replace the lost skin cells with new healthy skin cells.

With laser resurfacing, the dermatologist uses a laser to treat wrinkles or sun damage. Laser resurfacing can be ablative or non-ablative.
Ablative resurfacing is sometimes called a “laser peel,” and the dermatologist does indeed use a laser to remove the topmost skin layer.
In non-ablative laser resurfacing, the dermatologist uses a laser that bypasses the epidermis and penetrates deeper into the skin. Non-ablative lasers work by stimulating the production of collagen and new skin cells and thus produce smoother skin.
Non-ablative lasers have the advantage of being less discomforting than ablative lasers, but they take longer to produce results.
Men have thicker and often darker skin than women and need treatments that can accommodate their needs.
Chemical peels rejuvenate a man’s skin by minimizing wrinkles, some scars, and discolored spots.
Some dermatologists may offer creams and other treatments before and after the peel.
